Personal Information

My passions are art and travel.

I was brought up in a family that is constantly traveling, and I seem to have inherited the desire to travel from them. Most recently, in the summer of 2008 I went to Beijing to visit my brother and discovered the 798 art district. I fell in love with the gallery complex and spent as much time as possible there before returning to America. There were a few artists that really struck me: I was particularly inspired by seeing the art of Lin TianMiao (more) and Yin XiuZhen. I also had the chance to stay in a few villages in Yunnan Province over a course of 2 weeks.

Before going to China that summer I had a reasonable amount of international experiences. I went to high-school at an international school in Herzilliyah Pituach, Israel and lived in a rural part of China for one year during what would have been 7th grade, helping my mom teach English to preschoolers. I’ve also had the chance to spend time in Panama, and a variety of European countries like France, Italy, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Switzerland, Turkey, and Amsterdam.

I admit to feeling incredibly spoiled for those opportunities.

From traveling to these countries and having always been passionate about art, my current hope is to find work in China within the art field. I feel that the contemporary art in China is of the most interesting in the World today, and I want to be as close to it as possible. And if I do become a professor of art one day, experience and knowledge of Chinese art would be an important thing to be able to pass on to students.
